Concrete is sometimes passed over for being too plain, but that’s no longer the case. Concrete is a low maintenance, extremely versatile material. It can be stamped, textured or colored to mimic many more expensive materials such as brick or cobblestone. Another new trend is to pour smaller slabs and to integrate plants in between. Concrete countertops are increasingly popular and offer limitless design options of shape and color.

Artificial Grass

Sometimes there’s no other option than grass. But homeowners are leery of watering, weeding, feeding and mowing. Artificial grass is a consistently beautiful, low-maintenance option. Less expensive than a real lawn, it can be a beautiful compliment to pavers, bricks and concrete. technology and materials get better every year. The best artificial lawns are hard to tell from the real thing.

Loose Materials
(pebbles, pea gravel, aggregates)

These materials fill in around walkways, in a garden or in some fountains and water applications due to their simple, natural appearance and permeability and moisture retention properties. They can be a quick and inexpensive way to finish off a space.
